“Healing of Soul and Body”

A Grace-Filled Pilgrimage to the Holy Sites of Orthodox Georgia

Sometimes there comes a moment in life when a person needs more than rest, a change of scenery, or medical treatment. The soul longs for silence, the heart for comfort, and the mind for answers to questions that cannot be resolved by ordinary means.
It is precisely at such moments that the Lord opens the way to holy places.
For many years, the Orthodox Association for People with Disabilities “NiKa”, together with the Andcross Pilgrimage, Spiritual and Educational Centre, has organised journeys to the holy sites of Georgia — an ancient Christian land that has preserved the living faith of the early centuries, a great spiritual heritage, and countless sacred places.
Over the years of our ministry, we have accompanied thousands of pilgrims. Many arrived with heavy hearts, illnesses, family difficulties, emotional pain, or a loss of hope. Time and again, we witnessed how, after sincere prayer, participation in the Sacraments of the Church, and veneration of holy relics, a person returned home changed — calmer, strengthened, filled with faith and inner peace.
We never promise miracles.
A miracle cannot be ordered or earned. It is born where the heart opens itself to God.
That is why our programme is called “Healing of Soul and Body”.
We firmly believe that true healing begins not with medicine, but with a person turning to the Lord. When the soul finds peace, the body is often strengthened as well. This is what the Orthodox Church has taught us for many centuries.
Our pilgrimage journeys combine spiritual guidance, visits to Georgia’s greatest holy sites, and an opportunity to restore one’s health at the renowned resort of Borjomi.
It is a path on which prayer is joined with care for the human person, and faith becomes a source of hope and inner strength.
With the Blessing of the Georgian Orthodox Church
With the blessing of the clergy of the Georgian Orthodox Church, in 2026 we are conducting spiritual and health-focused pilgrimages as part of the “Healing of Soul and Body” programme.

Dates of the Upcoming Journeys

30 September–12 October 2026

17 October–28 October 2026

Two Paths Towards One Healing

We have deliberately brought together two essential dimensions of human life — care for the body and care for the soul.
Orthodox tradition has never placed medical care in opposition to prayer. On the contrary, the Church has always blessed people to make use of everything good that the Lord has given humanity for the preservation of health.
For this reason, our programme combines spiritual pilgrimage with modern medical care, helping participants regain strength, support their health, and find inner balance.

Care for the Body

During the journey, participants stay at the renowned resort of Borjomi — one of Europe’s best-known balneological resorts.
Its healing mineral waters, mild mountain climate, exceptionally clean air, and long-established traditions of sanatorium treatment create favourable conditions for physical recovery.
The programme includes:

  • consultations with Russian-speaking doctors;
  • laboratory tests;
  • ultrasound diagnostics;
  • therapeutic and wellness procedures;
  • individual recommendations from medical specialists.

Care for the Soul
The principal purpose of the pilgrimage remains an encounter with the holy sites of Orthodox Georgia.
During the journey, pilgrims visit monasteries and churches connected with the life of Saint Gabriel Urgebadze, venerate his holy relics, and participate in divine services.
Common prayer holds a special place in the programme.
We invite every pilgrim to walk a path that generations of Orthodox Christians have regarded as a road to spiritual renewal.
During the pilgrimage, those who wish may take part in:

  • the Sacrament of Confession;
  • Holy Communion;
  • common and private prayer;
  • anointing with blessed oil;
  • the veneration of Orthodox holy sites;
  • prayer at the relics of Saint Gabriel.

We do not tell anyone, “You will certainly receive a miracle.”
We say something different:
Open your heart to God and entrust yourself to His holy will.
This is how the path to genuine healing begins.

We Invite You to Join the Pilgrimage

We would be honoured to walk this path together with you.
May this journey through the holy land of Georgia become a time of prayer, inner transformation, spiritual joy, and an encounter with the grace of God.
“Your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be healed of your disease.”
(Mark 5:34)
Choose the travel date that suits you and join our pilgrimage. Discover holy places, strengthen your faith, find peace of soul, and share with us the joy of this special spiritual journey. For many pilgrims, such journeys become a source of spiritual strength, hope, and inner renewal. They help restore peace of mind, deepen faith, and encourage people to ask the Lord in prayer for health, help, and blessing for themselves and their loved ones.
